The mission of the yearlong, statewide competition is to engage the farmer, the chef and the diner in an exciting evening of food and entertainment with the goal of promoting North Carolina chef talent and the use of local ingredients. Over the course of 2015, 48 talented chef teams will compete in three regional competitions around the state. These competitions include Competition Dining-Triangle, -Triad, and -City (Charlotte). Each series features 16 chefs and 15 single-elimination dinner battles where you, the diners, are the judges alongside professional and media judges. The champions of each series will face off in November for the Final Fire-Battle of Champions.
This is the fourth year the concept has been executed statewide. It was started ten years ago by event host and founder Jimmy Crippen in Blowing Rock, N.C. at Crippen’s Country Inn and Restaurant as Fire on the Rock.
