Featuring Michele D’Amelio, a multi-award winning pizza maker from Naples, Italy.
D’Amelio remembers playing with dough from a young age when he would help his mother bake bread in their wood-burning oven. He eventually learned to make pizza for the whole family, and at age 19 began working at a local pizzeria where is passion for pizza making grew. In 2010, he opened his own family-run pizzeria, Chest’é Pizza, in Lioni. Michele also began competing, and in 2013 traveled to Las Vegas with the Caputo/Orlando Foods team of master pizzaioli where he was crowned first place champion in the Italian Style category at the International Pizza Expo. In 2014, D’Amelio was awarded second place in the coveted Pizza World Championship in Parma, Italy.
